Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA)/ National Qualification Department (NQD) Corporate Profile.
The Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA) is the National Training Agency for Technical and Vocational Education and (TVET) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The SSDA was established by the Sector Skills Development Agency Act – 2010, as a statutory body. It operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and consists of a Board and a secretariat, the National Qualification Department (NQD).
Composition of the Agency
The Agency consists of:
a. The following ex-officio members:
(i) the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry;
(ii) the Chief Education Officer;
(iii) the Director of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College;
b. The following members who shall be appointed by the Minister:
(i) one member from the Department of Labour to be nominated by the Minister responsible for Labour;
(ii) one member nominated by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce;
(iii) one member nominated by the organisation most representative of employers;
(iv) one member nominated by the organisation most representative of Trade Unions;
(v) one member nominated by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coalition of Services Industries Inc.;
(vi) two members nominated by professional organisations involved in the delivery of technical and vocational education and training; and
(vii) two members who are public officers involved in Technical and Vocational Education and Training with expertise in occupational standards development, vocational qualifications or curriculum development and evaluation methods, to be nominated by the Minister.
